Heating Retrofit Project
Case 26: Heating Retrofit Project (Targeting the Tibet Market)
Project Objective: Tailored for the Tibetan market, upgrading legacy heating setups.
Building Area: 130 m2
Climate Conditions: Alpine plateau climate at an altitude of approx. 3,800m, long and severe winters, extreme diurnal temperature ranges, minimum temperatures reaching −13℃, and dry air.
Project Requirements: Demolition of outdated electric underfloor heating in favor of full-house hydronic space heating + year-round domestic hot water supply.
Solution & Performance:
Before vs. After Retrofit: Legacy electric underfloor heating suffered from unstable temperatures, air dryness, heavy maintenance workloads, and high running costs.
Retrofit Solution: Replaced with an 8HP ultra-low temperature air source heat pump paired with a 100L buffer tank, supplying water at 45℃–55℃ to maintain stable indoor temperatures of 20 ℃–22℃.
Performance & Effects: Equipped with powerful defrosting capabilities to adapt to plateau sub-zero conditions, the system operates fully automatically without manual supervision. Overall heating costs were slashed by 28% while steadily providing domestic hot water, fully complying with Tibet's clean heating mandates.
